Natural Gas Distribution
Natural gas service has been provided to our participants by the Regional Directorate since 2012. The operation of the steel and polyethylene network within our Region, the initial natural gas supply to participants upon request, the inspection of supplied installations, the approval of additional or revised systems, and the operation of RM-B and RM-C type stations—which are responsible for the measurement and pressure reduction of the natural gas supplied to the parcels allocated to our participants—are all carried out under the authority of our Regional Directorate.
Our Region is supplied through one RM-A type station directly connected to the BOTAŞ Main Transmission Line. Through this station, the natural gas required by our participants for process-steam usage and/or electricity generation is provided. The overall natural gas consumption of our Region is continuously and systematically monitored via a remote reading system by the Directorate’s staff. Additionally, the individual consumption levels of participants are monitored by the Directorate’s personnel, and at the end of each month, the billing consumption amounts are calculated and reported to the Accounting Department.
Our Region’s natural gas network has been constructed using two types of underground pipelines: steel and polyethylene. The steel network, operating at a pressure level of 12–19 bar, primarily serves participants with high-capacity natural gas requirements, while the polyethylene network, operating at 3–4 bar, is designed to supply participants with lower-capacity gas demands. The total length of our natural gas network is approximately 14.749 kilometers.
Activities such as the renewal of aging pipelines, capacity upgrades, and the construction of new lines at required points are also carried out or commissioned by our Regional Directorate.
Natural Gas Usage:
Participants in our Region, whether for new natural gas installations or additional/revised systems, are required to work with consultant and contractor companies authorized by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) for all natural gas-related works. Within our Region, the BOTAŞ Technical Specification is fully applied in both procedural and technical matters related to natural gas.
Once the contracted contractor company is reported to our Region and the consultant appointed by our Directorate is designated, the participant’s transition process to natural gas begins. This entire process, up to the commencement of natural gas supply, is monitored and supervised by our Directorate.
When the participant submits the Work Commencement File, prepared according to the technical requirements set by the consultant company, the gas commissioning process begins.
Natural Gas Pricing:
In natural gas sales, our Region applies BOTAŞ’s “Wholesale Natural Gas Sales Prices for Organized Industrial Zones Purchasing Natural Gas” as the unit price without any alteration.
